Grants

Individual Artists grants were awarded on February 16 by the Arts Council. Recipients include:

  • Wendy Babcox, media arts, to purchase a high resolution digital video camera

  • Dolores Coe, visual arts, to develop a body of 10 large mixed media paintings

  • Elizabeth Coffman, media arts, to complete a documentary film

  • Elizabeth Condon, visual arts, to create 6 new large watercolor paintings

  • Robert Constable, music, to purchase recording equipment

  • Maggie Council DiPietra, music, to record and release a new CD

  • Charles Farrell, music, for studio fees to produce a CD and webite design

  • Hubert Grissom, theater, to attend the Sewanee Writer’s Conference

  • Melanie Hubbard, literature, to attend Juniper Springs Writing Institute

  • Chihchun Chi-sun Lee, music, to record orchestral work

  • Naomi Niskala, music, to record a new CD of works by Robert Helps

  • Charles Owen, music, to record new jazz composition

  • Christopher Weeks, visual arts, to purchase computer equipment

The grants were reviewed February 12 by a panel consisting of Michele Tuegel, Pinellas Department of Cultural Affairs, David Audet, Ybor Festival of the Moving Image, Mary Luft, Tiger Tail Productions, Miami, David Manson, EMIT music festival and St. Petersburg College, Jane English, graphic designer, and chair, Monica Poole, Arts Council member.
